Voting Stakeholders

Membership Classes

Since 2009, the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA) has operated under a “Stakeholder” model, in order for TOTA to embrace all tourism industry participants in the region by considering them as stakeholders, without a requirement to pay membership fees.

There are two classes of members of the Society (see Constitution & Bylaws, section 2.2):

  • Voting Members - entitled to attend, speak, and vote at any meeting of the members and be elected as a board director;

  • Non-Voting Members - entitled to notice of and attend and speak at all meetings for members. Not entitled to vote or be elected as a board director.

Voting Member Eligibility

To qualify as a Voting Stakeholder, the organization must meet the following criteria (see Constitution & Bylaws, section 2.3)

  1. A registered stakeholder with TOTA.

  2. In good standing with TOTA.

  3. Either A) Participated in a TOTA marketing program; OR B) provided in-kind value; in the amount of $100 or more within 12 months prior to the call for nominations, which may change from year to year. Such amount may be combined in one or more installments but the combined value must have been contributed within the aforesaid 12 month time period.
